Is there a reason why Begin to Hope has almost the same piano track as The Man of a Thousand Faces ? I was just wondering. c:

Hmm, I don’t think there’s any particular reason… other than the piano only has so many keys and only so many musical patterns are possible. The more you listen, the more you realize how some of the piano on her songs sound very similar… for example, “AB” has the same exact left hand bass notes as “Dusseldorf”. And “All the Rowboats” reminds me of “Another Town” because of the almost-the-same left hand pattern (although that comparison is less obvious because the speeds of both songs and the right hand of both songs are very different). I don’t think it’s a criticism, again, the girl’s written like 700 songs so a few of them are going to have similar, recurring motifs, whether intentional or not.
I kind of like it - I imagine the songs having some sort of “link” to eachother or like each is a part of a whole “story”. It’s kind of like with lyrics to me - I love how all her songs have similar “themes” that always pop up - like the “city”, “Mary Ann”, “gravediggers” etc. :)

Sure… the ones off the top of my head (besides “***/Whisper”) are:

Pavlov’s Daughter: “The gravediggers getting’ stuck in the machine, picking getting’ slim, slimmer… I hear them say my name… Regin-uh, Regina-UH, Regin-UH-uh-uh…”

Begin to Hope:“I grab my sharpie and wrote my message on the wall: ‘Yeah, Regina was here.’”

The Flowers: “The papers around me are piling and twisting Regina, the paperback mummy, what then… ?”

And then OF COURSE there’s… Reginasaurus. Just listen to the whole song :p. (Btw, did the Barfly recording get deleted off YouTube?! :O)

There’s probably more I missed, those are just the ones I remembered right away. Hope this helps!!

About the rejecting: If not liking a new version of a song (lets say all the rowboats) would that really make you not be able to listen to the original...? Lets say a remake of your favorite movie comes out, you hate it. Do you hate the original? I "reject" Ne me quitte pas, but I don't reject the original for I still listen to it nor do I reject Regina for I still listen to her as well. We don't need to like everything a person does, and we can still be a fan.

Oh, yeah, obviously you can be a fan of a person but not like everything they do. I still have a preference for her older stuff. What I mean is when people automatically reject anything “new” just because it’s different and not give it a fair chance, or quickly accuse her of “selling out” when I don’t think that’s the case. I’ve never personally had an experience where I couldn’t listen or watch a remake or new version of something and have it ruin the original… in most cases it makes the original even more special. :)

Since you can upload the unreleased songs, does that mean they aren't copyrighted and therefore can be used in out of context youtube videos/what not?

Yeah, I believe any live or demo version of a song can be used in any context without copyright violation - just be sure that you really are using an unreleased version, ‘cause I’ve made the mistake of thinking a recording was unreleased, when it wasn’t (and it’s hard to keep track because almost every song of hers has like a million different versions) - so just make a quick search on iTunes or something to make sure the version you have really is unreleased. :)

Would it be possible for you to either inbox me or even post the links to either videos or downloads or whatever of any regina song you know of that has not been on one of her cds? Such as "***" or the song about her brother or any more that were probably only performed live. I would love you forever! :D

Hi! Actually, one of my projects is getting download links to all of her unreleased songs, but that is taking me awhile because of all I have going on and of course how many songs she has. But I’m working on it and will let everyone know when that’s done. :)
